Frequently Asked Questions
What is my seller number? In the past your seller number had been the last 4 digits of your phone number. However, our online tagging system, introduced in the summer of 2010, has changed that a bit. Upon registration you will now have the option of requesting a specific seller ID or merely accepting the computer generated number. Please note that if you have participated with Rugrats Resale in the past we would encourage you to keep that same number here as well. Maintaining the same seller number at both sales will allow you to move your already tagged inventory from Just Kids Resale to Rugrats Resale and back again without ever having to retag anything! |
Do I have to use your online tagging system? Yes, all sellers are required to use our online tagging system to participate. We tried allowing both hand-written and computer generated tags at our fall 2010 event, but it created too many accounting and efficiency issues. We are convinced, however, that once you use the new system you will never want to go back to the old way of doing things!

Why do we have to pay our registration fees upfront? Just Kids Resale requests your $6.00 registration fee upfront in an effort to reduce the percentage of "No-Shows" the week of the event thus:

This means: SPRING / SUMMER ONLY ITEMS: Shorts, short-sleeved shirts, sleeveless or spaghetti strap dresses, sandals, flip flops, swim shoes, swimsuits, sand boxes, pools..basically anything that would be deemed warmer weather appropriate only. ***Exceptions:

What sells? Most anything used by an infants, children or young teens, from clothing to furniture to equipment, is accepted for resale. That said, Just Kids Resale will not accept firearms of any kind, electronic games rated M for Mature audiences or any movies rated beyond PG. |

Do clothes sell well? YES! This is absolutely the place to sell your kids clothes! There are always a ton of infant to young toddler clothing. Remember this when pricing your items as you have a lot of competition. Larger size kids clothing and boys clothing (size 3T and up) are rarer commodities and go quickly. If you have these, BRING THEM! For the smaller sizes, we recommend you try selling them as an outfit. Can't figure out what to do with all those socks? Pin them on the outfit! Remember those hair bows and hats too! Accessorize! |
Do toys sell well? YES! And very fast too! Of course, toys that present well sell the fastest. So, wipe down those toys before you bring them and don't forget the big OUTSIDE toys either! They are always a hot commodity, especially at the spring sale. |
Do I have to hang all my clothing? Please hang all items so that when hung on the rack, the front of the clothing is visible from the left side. (If hung correctly, the top of the hanger should look like a question mark when looking at the front of your item.) Should you need hangers, we have been successful when making requests at Kohls, some dry cleaners, and Wal Mart. |
Do you sell adult clothing? The closest we come to selling adult clothing is young men's and Juniors. We plan to be just as selective with teen clothing as we are with the kids' clothing. Please note, there will not be any dressing rooms available. No one will be allowed to try on clothing in the bathrooms. Junior clothing must be in style and meet our normal consignment standards. |
Is there a limit to the number of items I can sell? No, we have tons of room! If you can bring it to us, we will find room to put it in the sale. |
How should I package my bed linens, comforters, etc. to sell? Most buyers want to be able to inspect the items to make sure they are in good shape. Best packaging? Some sort of zippered, clear plastic bag that allows the item(s) to be removed for inspection, but kept behind protective plastic to keep from getting soiled. You may want to try hanging the item on a hanger. Putting them in Ziploc type bags is fine, but make sure that the buyer can clearly see all the contents. |
How should I package books? When selling your books, keep in mind that although used, most people would prefer to buy books where the cover and inner pages are not all torn up. Take care the type of tape you use to adhere your price tag to the book and the location. (While the outer binding of the book may not stick to the tape, if you try to wrap it around the inside of the book there is a good chance that it will stick to the inside lining.) My suggestion? Place the book in a cheap Ziploc type bag for protection and tape the price tag to the inside of the plastic. Consider grouping several of the same type of books together and selling as a set. Don't have Ziploc bags? Consider tying the books together in a bundle with some sort of string or curling ribbon. |
Can I use staples to attach my tags? No, only safety pins, one inch or greater or a tagging gun (see below)
Staples tend to leave holes in garments. Those tiny gold pins do not hold up well and break easily. And please, Please, PLEASE do not use straight pins! Ouch! Items secured with small gold pins, staples, or straight pins will be placed in an "unacceptable" box and returned to you at the conclusion of the event. |
Can I use a tagging gun to attach my tags? Absolutely, but with one fairly large stipulation. Tags attached with a tagging gun should be put through the manufacturers tag (where the size is) on the clothing or through a seam ONLY! Otherwise you run a huge risk of putting a hole in the clothing and rendering it unsellable. Please be extremely careful as to placement when using a taggin gun! |
How should I package shoes? The biggest concern with shoes is keeping them TOGETHER. The best option is to attach the shoes using some sort of zip tie, curling ribbon or pipe cleaner through the shoelace eyes to keep them together. If attaching the shoes by way of the shoelace eyes, poke a hole in the price tag first and run your string/zip tie/pipe cleaner through it before continuing. We prefer you not place your shoes inside Ziploc type bags, as it makes it difficult for consumers to inspect and check them for fit. |
How do I tag multiple pieces? If your outfit or item is composed of multiple pieces, just print out multiple copies of the same tag and attach them to each piece. Our computer system will recognize them as being part of the same set and will only charge the buyer once. |
How do I price my items? General guideline is 1/4 to 1/3 of the original sales price. Items in excellent condition and name brands will sell for more than items of lesser quality. Remember, items must be in good condition to be accepted in the sale. Shoes need to be in top quality and generally are priced less than clothing (about 20%-35%). Popular, quality toys such as Little Tikes, Step Two, Perego, Brio, etc. can be priced more. Hard to find items such as double strollers can also be priced more. If in doubt, ask us at check-in. We can tell you what similar items have sold for. Ultimately, ask yourself, "Would I buy this for $xx.xx?" Also, if you know the current retail price for your item, write this on the tag in the description area. Or, if it is no longer sold, try writing 'paid $xx.xx for new' on the tag. If you are looking to competitively price your items so that 85% or more of what you brought sells, we recommend you review our Pricing Strategies. Again, these are only guidelines. The price is ultimately completely in your hands. |

How do I qualify to shop the Pre-sale? Our private, Pre-sale event is limited to our Sellers, Volunteers and First Time Parents/Grandparents. Registration is required. Our volunteers shop first and foremost as, without them, our event could not take place. (No, you do not have to be a seller to volunteer with us.) Please see the individual sections of this website for more information. When shopping, remember to bring some sort of container to put all your “finds” in! Consider using a trashcan w/handles or wheels or a laundry basket with a rope tied to the handles (they can get a bit heavy with your purchases, and this allows you to drag it if necessary). Just Kids Resale does have a limited supply of large IKEA shopping bags for your use, but they may be hard to come by during heavier shopping times. |
Can I bring my child to the Pre-sale? Although discouraged, at this point YES, your children are permitted at the Pre-Sale. It can be frustrating to try and shop while monitoring a young child, but as a mother myself, I realize you don't always have a choice. I would encourage you to make a fun night of it by getting your friends to sell with you and then you all can get out of the house for a girls’ evening away WITHOUT the kiddos! Come early, bring some coffee and have fun talking with other parents. Then go out after the sale and relax. |
Can I bring my friend, mom, other to the Pre-sale? Unfortunately, no. In an effort to preserve the value of our volunteer pre-sale incentives, only those with passes can shop the Pre-sale event. If you have someone else who wishes to come along with you to the pre-sale, may I suggest you volunteer together for one of the shifts available throughout the event. Not only would you be able to hang out and have a great time working together in our relaxed, friendly environment, but our volunteers get to shop the pre-sale event even earlier than our sellers and 1st Time Parents! So, you're guaranteed to get some of the best bargains out there! |

I've found more items to bring than I originally told you. Do I need to inform you? No. You gave us a general idea of the number and type of items you were bringing to the event when you registered. If you've found more items than expected, good for you! It may take a little longer than originally expected at drop-off, but you do not need to contact us. |
Where do I drop off my items? Our event is located at Lambert Hall in Bellefonte, PA. The address is: 303 Forge Rd., Bellefonte, PA 16823. For directions using Mapquest, please go to our Home Page and click on "Click for Directions." |
Can I help? Absolutely! Just Kids Resale would not be possible were it not for our amazing volunteers! We'd love to have you on our team! And our volunteers get to shop the private, Pre-sale event as well! For more information or to see shifts available see our Volunteer section here. |

I'm already eligible to shop the Presale since I'm a (seller / 1st time parent). Why would I want to volunteer too? We typically have between 3 and 4 dozen volunteers overall. That's a total of 4 dozen people who get to leisurely shop over the course of 3 1/2 hours before we open up the Presale to our sellers and 1st Time Parents/Grandparents. We limit our sellers to 120 and 1st Time Parents/Grandparents to 75, but if each 1st Time Parent were to bring a friend (as they are allowed) that means over 250 eligible shoppers beginning at 7pm! Hmmm...less than 48 people over a spread out period of time or 250 all at once...you decide. Second, it's fun! We have a great time and volunteering affords you the opportunity to get out of the house and have a few adult conversations. But, most importantly, if you're not one for shopping in crowds or have a specific item you're looking for, you'll want to volunteer to get in earlier. |
Do I have to sign up for a specific drop-off time? Yes. To help with resource planning, all sellers must select a designated drop-off time. For those using our online system, you will automatically be reminded of your need to sign up for a drop-off time. Should you need to change it for any reason, you can easily swap your time for any other available option. |
What types of furniture do you accept? We accept cribs (manufactured AFTER June 28, 2025), changing tables, day beds, youth beds, kids twin beds, bunk beds, kids dressers, toy boxes, rocking chairs (adult and kids), and any other item that a baby or child would use. |
Can I sell my crib at Just Kids Resale? Unfortunately, due to recently imposed government regulations, it is illegal for anyone to sell/resell any cribs manufactured prior to June 28, 2011. For more information on this topic please see the following article on the Consumer Product and Safety Commission website: http://www.cpsc.gov/onsafety/2011/06/the-new-crib-standard-questions-and-answers/ This includes all models, regardless of repair kits being installed. Bottom line: Unless your crib was manufactured after June 28, 2025, it is against the law for us to sell it. |
Do I need to assemble my furniture? Definitely! Yes! Furniture sells much better if it is put together. The seller is able to see that it is complete, what it looks like and any cosmetic damages it may have. This is why we ask that you either bring the items assembled or assemble them at the sale location. If this is just too difficult, a photo of the assembled product is a great alternative! If you do neither of these, chances are you'll be picking it back up at the end of the sale. |
How is my check calculated? Your check is calculated by taking 70% of your total sales. If your volunteer level qualifies you to have your registration fee waived, the $6.00 will be added back into your proceeds check at the end of the sale. Checks are calculated and in the mail within 3 - 5 days of the sale's conclusion. |
