Attaching price tags: Secure tags to clothing with a safety pin (1" or greater in size) or tagging gun. Most Dollar Tree's have containers of 200 safety pins for $1.00. DO NOT USE TINY GOLD PINS (not sturdy enough), STRAIGHT PINS (ouch) or STAPLES! When using a tagging gun, care should be taken to prevent damage to the garment for the new owner. Because the needle of the tagging gun is thicker than that of a typical safety pin, tags should be attached to the garment through one of the seams (armpit or waistline) or through the manufacturer's tag to prevent putting holes in it. Remember: Your tags need to be secured well enough to withstand vigorous shopping! If your tag becomes separated from your item, we cannot sell it for you. |
Placement of price tags: Pin tag to top left side of clothing, or to your right as you are looking at it.
You may use a tagging gun if you have one. Just be sure to place the needle through one of the seams in the garment (armpit or waistline) or better yet, put it through the size/care tag in the back of the item so as not to put holes in the garment. |

Kinds of tape to use: Secure tags with masking tape to toys or other hard surface items. Be sure to attach all sides of tag to item securely. For items with more delicate exteriors, such as books or board games, blue painter's tape works best to keep from damaging the surface of the item upon removal. ** Please - Do NOT use Packaging Tape to secure your tags to an item. It tends to leave sticky residue that is very difficult to remove. You may use packing tape to bundle items together, however. |
Small Items: Place smaller items in Ziploc type bags. We suggest you tape your price tag INSIDE the bag to ensure it does not get separated. The opening of the bag should also be securely closed with packing tape or masking tape. This just keeps little people from inadvertantly opening the bag and having pieces get lost. |
Furniture: We strongly recommend that beds, cribs, and larger furniture items be displayed assembled. Most people will not purchase used items such as these without being able to see for themselves the condition of the pieces and whether they assemble together solidly. If you choose to display them unassembled, parts must be in a Ziploc bag and taped to the furniture. Again, be careful the type of tape you use. You want the accessories to stay with the item, but you don't want to destroy the piece of furniture in the process with the residue some tapes will leave behind. The price tag should be displayed at the top right hand side of the unit. If your item has multiple pieces, you will need to print out and attach separate tags to each of the pieces. Take the time to check for recalls at the following recall website. If you are NOT assembling your crib or furniture, you must have a photo of the fully assembled item so people know what they are purchasing. |
Bedding: Bedding and linens can be packaged in two different ways. Larger items should be folded nicely and placed in clear plastic bags. Shoppers must be able to see what they are purchasing. If you do not have the original bag, use one of the large Ziploc bags that are available at the discount stores. Any matching accessories should be listed on your price tag and included in the bag as well. Smaller blankets (receiving or those not part of a bedding set) can be hung on hangers to be displayed on racks or placed in clear bags as well. We discourage loose bedding for the mere fact that they can become easily soiled in our rigorous shopping environment. |
Car Seats: For liability reasons we can only accept car seats that have been manufactured within the last 5 years (manufacture date is usually found on the underside of the seat). If your car seat has been involved in an accident of any kind or is on the recall list, do not bother to bring it. We cannot put children at risk and the government has deemed items such as these too dangerous for continued use. Consult the website www.parents.com/recalls before you bring in your unit. Straps and cloth liner must be very clean and free of stains. Attach your price tag at the head of the car seat. A used car seat checklist must be filled out and presented when dropping off the seat. You can find it here. |

Toys: All toys must be in working order and have all their pieces. Place smaller parts in Ziploc type bags and adhere them to the main toy with tape or a zip tie routed through a small hole in the bag and attached to the main toy. Battery driven toys must have working batteries in them. Try purchasing Light Duty Ray-O-Vac batteries at Walmart, instead of name brand batteries, to make those toys walk, talk and sing! Packs go for $.99. Or consider taking the worn out batteries from your "keep" toys and placing them in the toys you are selling. After all, the toys at the event only need to work long enough for the buyer to be sure they are not buying a broken toy. Outside toys are especially popular at these events, especially the spring one. So, don’t forget to look out in your yard for those sand boxes, climbers, pools, sports equipment, and outdoor play centers that are no longer being used! |
Potty Items: Diaper pails and training seats must be very clean. A bleach and water soak can be used on diaper pails to rid them of the terrible odor they are accustomed to. Make sure all potty items are free of "residue" and potty odor. If they come in dirty, we will not accept them for consignment. |
DVDs/Books: DVDs must be brought to the event with some sort of protective case. For books sold in multiples, place them in a bag and attach the price tag to the inside of the bag. Books should not be ripped, marked or severely worn. |
Shoes: Shoes need to be in new to next to new condition to sell. Shoppers are very picky when it comes to footwear. ONLY BRING YOUR BEST. Otherwise, you'll most likely be taking them back home with you at the end of the event. Take time to clean the mud off cleats. To keep shoes together you can tie their strings, pin them to each other or, something more creative, use cable ties or pipe cleaners threaded through the laces to keep them together. As for the price tags, punch a hole in the tag and feed one of the laces through it or use Masking Tape to secure it to the bottom of the shoes. To make sure your item does not end up on the lost tag table, you may want to write your seller code on the bottom of any shoes. |

| Please, no used underwear. | |
Price and Size your items: General pricing guideline is 1/3 to 1/4 of original price for items in excellent condition. Just like the retail world, brand names sell for more. Also, popular or hard to find items sell for more. PLEASE: Do not use S,M, L or pounds on size, only true sizes please. We need to know where to place your items. Exception: Maternity wear Please price in 50 cent ($0.50) increments. |
